Laparoscopy and Post-Surgery Back Pain: Potential Causes & Solutions

Question
I had laparoscopy for endo on Tues of this week. I had a hysterectomy years ago, but the cervix was left. Now it was removed. Anyway, I had surgery because of back pain. No other reason for severe & chronic back pain could be found. My back pain is MUCH worse now. Is it possible the surgery made it worse? I could function before. Now I am in constant pain & taking Percocet & tranadol.

Answer
Lynda,
I am so sorry to hear that you are in worse pain! That is terrible! What does your doctor say? did s/he give any reason why you would be in pain?  There is a recent study showing that surgery results in less pain for a period soon after--regardless of the efficacy of the surgery. So this does not sound right at all.  I am not an M.D., so can't answer as to what the reasons could be for you to be in more pain.  Please talk to your doctor about this.  If s/he offers no relief you may want to consult a pain specialist.  I hope your pain resolves.  Take care...
