QuestionHello there.
I had a miscarriage at 22 weeks and 1 day. Probably the hardest thing I have ever experienced. I was very dizzy, weak, having a bit of a fever, and had grayish to brown clots coming out...later to find that was my baby.
I didn't even know I was pregnant until 3 weeks prior to that. It was a bit of a pleasant surprise. My husband and I are separated...almost divorced. I recently moved. So, I needed some good news. And I had been told I could not have children.
So, when I went to the emergency room, they told me it was in fact a miscarriage and they didn't know if any of the baby was left or not due to an inverted uterus. My quant was 1. I went on 9/5/2008. I have an appointment with my doctor to follow up on 9/15/2008.
In the mean time, I am still in a lot of pain, having some more of the clots (tissue if you will), a bit of a fever, and my chest hurts, I am dizzy, very tired, and weak. My belly is still very, very hard and looks as though I am still pregnant.
What does this mean? Do I need to have a D & C done?
Thank you so much for your time!
Nicole
AnswerNicole,
I am really sorry to hear of your loss.
I am not medically trained, but I would not have thought at 22 weeks pregnant you could miscarry without medical intervention. If you are still experiencing these pains and clotting then I would go back to see your doctor. Leaving you misscarrying at such a late stage for 10 days seems to me to be barbaric. I am assuming by the layout of your post that you are not in the UK, therefore the medical system will be different to what I am familiar with. No woman should be left suffering like you are now. I would strongly recommend you go to see someone, and explain all your symptoms. It is possible you will need surgical intervention, or an induced miscarriage (where you will have to deliver).
Kind regards,
Christine
