ANSWER: Joanne,
I need to point out that I am not medically trained or in anyway qualified.
Bedrest right now is important, there is little they'll be able to tell you until tomorrow after the scan. As far as I know there is no operation that they will do inside your womb, it would be just too great a risk to the baby. There is a condition called placental abruption. This is where the placenta starts to come away from the wall before the baby is born. - I am not saying this is the cause of your bleeding only a doctor and the scan can determine the reason.
When I was carrying my son, I had 2 major heamorages, and a third bleed. I was told with the amount of blood I had lost it was very unlikely that the baby would have survived. However, Joshua was born at 39 weeks and 6 days, and he was very healthy!! The cause of my bleed was a partial placentral abruption. This is where only a part of the placenta comes away. I was taken into hospital for a few days, and had to have complete bedrest. When I came out I had to leave my work on sick leave and I moved back in to my parents. For 20 - 18 weeks I literally did the bare minimal. I had a few scans after the bleeds and it was found my placent had reattached itself. This posed some difficulties after the birth, not for my son though, but I needed to go to theatre to have the placenta removed after the birth (which was natural).
I hope this has given you a little bit of hope. I cant possibley say what is causing your bleeding, but bleeding does not always mean bad news. I hope you get good news at your scan tomorrow.
Kind regards,
Christine

QUESTION: thanks for your help it was very reassuring... but when i asked about a operation i meant if the regency had passed but the placenta was still attached? if i have got a apruption do U think it would be able to pass naturally or would i need to go in to hospital because of how far i am gone or is it uncommon for a pregency of this size to pass on its own?? i hope and pray to god every thing is fine i don't want to stop in hospital.... thanks again for your time and help x
AnswerJoanne,
Have you had your scan yet? You could be unnecessarily worrying yourself just now. It really is best to try and think positive until you have had the scan, and you have been assessed by a doctor.
There could be a number of reasons for you bleeding, and some of them might just be normal pregnancy related bleeds that need no further action. You have already had one bleed there is no reason why this one wont be the same, and perfectly fine.
If it is an abruption then I think you will need surgery as it could cause internal bleeding, but I am not saying your bleed is down to an abruption. Please, try and focus on resting and staying calm, panicing and worry will not be good for your unborn right now.
Hope it all goes well with the doctor and scan.
Kind regards,
Christine
