QuestionHi there
I had a D&C 3 weeks ago. I am still getting VERY faint + pregnancy tests at around 2 minutes into the test, although they are getting fainter! How long would I expect them to remain positive? My last HCG count was 38,000 on the 3rd August, 9 days later a MMC was confirmed. I had the D&C on the 19th August.
Also, when should ovulation occur following this and does the HCG have to be 0 for it to occur? I assume, all being well, a period should arrive 2 weeks after the ovulation.
Many thanks

AnswerHi Claire.
Because every woman is different, it's difficult to say yes or no as to when you'll ovulate. It all depends on how your body reacts to hormones. Some women could ovulate with traceable levels of hCG yet others may not ovulate until it's dropped to 0. You could invest in a home ovulation kit if you want to know for sure (you can get disposable or reuseable).
As cycles can change after miscarriage you may find your period will be a little earlier or later than anticipated. In theory and going by a 28 day cycle you should have a period 14 days after ovulation, but that really is a textbook estimation.
The best thing you can do is to wait. I'd love to tell you exactly what's going to happen and when, but it's impossible to do so unless you have constant medical monitoring & testing. Don't be surprised if it takes a few cycles to settle into a regular pattern as well, it can take your body a while to re-regulate itself.
I hope this has answered your questions as best as possible.
Kindest Regards
Sarah
