Understanding Late Period & Potential Pregnancy Symptoms

My periods were due last Tuesday ( 9 days ago). I had cramping on monday as i always have prior to my periods but no bleeding. I took the home pregnancy test last friday and it came negative and i safely assumed that i probably had tested too soon. I started having symptoms such as nausea, lower backache and occasional cramps over the last 2-3 days. The pregnancy test showed negative again when i tested this morning and later in the day i started having cramps and bleeding similar to having periods. Am i having delayed periods or have i miscarried?

The truth is neither of us will never know for sure. The early symptoms you have described could be the result of a delayed period. From an emotional point of view my advice would be to try and put this down to a delayed period. However, I would chart it on a calender and make sure your next period comes on time, if you notice irregular bleeding for 3 months or more it might be advisable to visit your doctor for a check up.
