Double Periods in One Month: Possible Pregnancy & What to Do

Question
Hi. My name is Misty, I am 22 next week, I only have one child, she is almost 2 years old now.  The reason I am writing is because I had two periods last month and not one this month, could this be a sign of being pregnant?  (My husband and I ARE trying, well, we aren't preventing it I should say).

My periods were in April. April 5-9 then again April 21-26th.  I haven't had one since and I am wondering if I am pregnant because I am having ALL the symptoms from cravings, FREQUENT urinating (at least 5 times or more and hour), nausiousness, tiredness, ect.  Could this just be a sign or am I too anxious over nothing?  I would really like to become pregnant but everytime I take a test it is always negative. I am so confused! Please help!

Answer
If your last period started on April 5, then you probably ovulated around April 18. If you did become pregnant, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later, or May 2-9. If a pregnancy test taken after May 9 is negative, you are probably not pregnant and the bleeding that you had on April 21-26 was most likely an early period. See if you get your period by May 25. If you do not get your period by then, take another pregnancy test. If it is doubtful, take a blood test for pregnancy (which is a bit more accurate) and check with your doctor. The earliest signs of pregnancy are breast tenderness, fatigue, and nausea.
