Understanding Low LDL Cholesterol: Risks, Benefits & Considerations

I am male 48 years and hypertensive. My SGOT?SFPT is 55-65 though I am non alchoholic and non tobaccochewer and strict vegyy. Further as my Lp(a) was 55, internist prescribed atoorvatstatin 10 mg though my Lipid profile was normal. Howvere, after one year, My LDL was 34 HDL 38 Triglyceride 89 S Cholestrol 100.I have stopped Attorvastatin as I am afraid my LDL will go down still lower. Is low LDL is abnormal and damaging or cause side effects ?

The drug you're on has more benefits than just lowering your cholesterol. It also thins the blood to help prevent strokes and heart attacks. In addition, it helps to stabilize the plaques that cause strokes.

I'm not aware of any valid reports claiming that low cholesterol can be damaging. I think you need to make an appointment with your doctor, or at least call. He needs to know that you've stopped taking your medication.
