QuestionHello,
Hope you are doing well.
Last month, I had early periods, that is 8th september, where as my actual date was 14th. The period was okay. No much pain and bright red color and watery. However, by the end of the day, I had a very severe pain in my stomach.. i was taken to the hospital in emergency and I was diagnosed with ovarian cyst. I went through many tests etc. and I was diagnosed with endometriosis cyst in my left ovary and it was around 5.5 cm.
During my periods I even got my CA-125 done and the result was 112. However, after a week I went for my CA-125 again, and it was found to be around 30. I am confused, why this certain drop in the level.
I had my Laproscopy on 25th september. and I am doing fine. There is no pain as such. Just a little pain due to the surgery. After a week after the surgery I am given decapeptyl injection. The side effects are not much. I am just a bit lazy, that might be due to the fact I am home these days. I have lot of itchiness in my rectum (back).. what could be the reason for that?
I also want to know what might be the reason of this itchiness on the rectum. Also, what are the side effects of decapeptyl? Whats the reason of this sudden change in the level of CA-125?
AnswerRectal itching may be caused by irritation of the skin near the rectum, loose stools, hemorrhoids, and other things. I don't think it has anything to do with your endometriosis or the decapeptyl. Common side effects of decapeptyl are menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and sweats, since it causes low estrogen levels. The change in the level of Ca 125 probably relates to inflammation of the peritoneum (lining of abdomen and pelvis). It doesn't really have much meaning except for diagnosis and following ovarian cancer.
