High Sed Rate & Elevated Liver Enzymes During Pregnancy: What to Expect

Question
my daughter just had blood tests and has a high sedrate level, elevated liver enzymes, and just found out she is pregnant. can these effect her pregnancy?

Answer
Diane,

Sedimentation rates can be increased due to pregnancy. Liver enzymes should not be increased. Whether or not the increased liver enzymes will have an effect on her pregnancy depends how high they are and how long they remain elevated. If you are concerned, and it sounds like you are, have your daughter call the doctor that ordered the tests to find out if he/she thinks it's a problem.
