QuestionI work as an in-home caregiver to the disabled. I have been offered a part-time position which would include administering medical marijuana to a disabled man.
I am presently seeking a full time job, and all of them want me to take a drug test. Will my patient's smoke cause me to fail a drug test? Should I not accept this patient?
AnswerHi Dreia,I'd be happy to try and answer your question. It is very unlikely that you can fail a drug test if you have just been around people smoking. You would have to be in a small, confined space with alot of marijuana smoke being smoked for a super long time, which is almost impossible. But there is the chance. When taking the test, you could mention it to the person doing the test, and they can document it. If you were employed and administering medical marijuana, it would be documented that you were around second hand smoke, and you wouldn't get into any trouble. I hope I've answered your question. Take care!
