QuestionThis Is A Follow Up Question To The One Answered By Dr. Shan. I Just Took Another Test But It's The 5 Day Early Detection. It Also Came Up Negative. And I'm 6 Days Late Now, So I Can't Be Pregnant Right? If I Understood Dr. Shan's Answer Correctly? He Said A Test Never Comes Up Negative 5 Days Late, It Would Be Positive.
AnswerHello, Shannon,
I looked to see the question Dr. Shan answered, but I didn't find it. But if that's what he said, I don't agree with him. There are things that can cause a woman to miss a period, including stress. In a case like that, the test would come up negative. Also, if you have been working out excessively, your periods could stop. Obviously, the first time you didn't have a period for that reason, a test 5 days after a missed period would be negative. If he meant to say that IF you are pregnant, the test would come up positive after 5 days late, that is probably true, although if the pregnancy is weak and a miscarriage is imminent, it wouldn't necessarily. To make absolutely sure, test in another week. Let me know what you find out.
