QuestionHi Danielle, I recently found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant. I am having a hard time deciding between a medical or surgical procedure. I have read up on both and trying to decide. Could you provide me with any advice.
AnswerHi Laney :)
I have an AMAZING resource! http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=abortioninfo
It's a wonderful community-safesapce, non judgmental. You can find links to women's different abortion stories, and I believe there's a medical vs. surgical section as well.
Some women go for medical because they can do it at home, privately. Some have horrible pain, others don't. It puts your body through a "mini" labor-that's why some women have such awful pain. You can use this method up until the 8-9th week.
The surgical-anesthesia can be given, but it costs more. Some women like getting it done right there. Procedure lasts from 3-10 minutes, depending on how far along the woman is. Without anesthesia, it can be very painful, even if the pain doesn't last "long." It's really all entirely relative to each individual woman.
I'm sure that if you read through some of the stories, you'll be able to choose the procedure that's best for YOU. And good luck!
