Understanding Elevated Squamous Epithelial Cells in Urine: What Does It Mean?

please have a second for me. I just received my labs and my therapist said that their were abnormal finds. My squamous epithelial cell count was 10-20. what does this all me?

Hi Nicole, I'd be happy to try and answer your question.  I'm assuming that you mean squamous epithelial cells in your urine, correct?  Even though the count is 10-20, it's not abnormal.  All squamous epithelial cells are skin cells.  When collecting your urine specimen, cells from your genital area probable contaminated your specimen.  I don't believe you need to be concerned.
