Understanding Bilirubin Levels: Symptoms and Potential Causes

Question
so lately I have been feeling really sick I am vomiting and everything taste bitter, body i aching and I do no know what is happening do you think I have a test the end of the month but do you think I should go in sooner

Answer
Hi Priscilla, I'd be glad to try and answer your question.  Bilirubin is present in your liver at a certain amount.  When that level rises, it could indicate a problem with your liver, such as liver damage, cirrhosis, or hepatitis.  The normal range for bilirubin is approximately 0.1 - 1.0, so your level of 1.7 is slightly high, but not that high.  Did the doctor do any other chemistry testing?  There are other liver enzymes such as AST, ALT, and ALP that, when elevated, could indicate a liver problem.  I would worry too much though, because your level is not that high.  But if you are feeling sick, why not call your doctor?  There's no reason to wait until the end of the month if you're having symptoms.
