QuestionMy recent thyroid tests read:
T4 12.4 (range 9.2-25)
T3 6.0 (range 3.5-6.5
TSH 0.09 range 0.35 - 5.5 mIU/l
Dr has taken me off thyroxine due to low bone density but my T3 is still high in the range, my T4 is slowing going down (I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at T4 11.8 in 2001, but now drs tell me I'm in "normal range", but I feel extremely tired again. I feel better when my T4 is up to at least the 15-19 range. Have been told T4 must be up in the top "third" of the numbers to feel good. I need to exercise to improve bone density, but haven't got the energy. It's a catch 22... Also, the ranges keep changing..why do they keep changing the goalposts? Would be interested in your opinion on my test results.
AnswerHi again, Julie. I'm going to try and answer your question, but I'm not a thyroid doctor (or any kind of doctor!), so I can only give you just a bit of information. Your TSH is pretty low, almost zero. A low TSH result can indicate an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or excessive amounts of thyroid hormone medication in those who are being treated for an underactive (or removed) thyroid gland. Are you taking any thyroid medication? It appears that you may need to, since yor body's not producing any thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Check with your doctor on this.
