CMV IgG Exposure & Sperm Donation: What You Need to Know

Question
Hi..i'm writing from Alabama. We're using an anon sperm donor from a sperm bank, doing @ home iui. We found out that our donor is positive for CMV Igg.I don't know my status. My question is,since I've more than likely been exposed,is it safe for us to continue using this donor,or should we use a donor negative for CMV Igg?thanks!

Answer
Hello Kelley,

I would recommend that you use a CMV negative donor.  There's no sense in taking any chances and there are plenty of sperm donors out there.  The sperm bank that I use does not allow CMV positive donors.
