QuestionHi,
I am a 32 yr old female. I fell pregnant on my 3rd month of clomid I'm last June ( I was previously on 50 mg but my specialist said I had not ovulated and increased the dose). I miscarried at 8 weeks due to a chromosome abnormality. We have just decided to try again and have just finished a cycle of clomid 100mg. I used my "maybe baby" ovulation test which said I had ovulated on day 14 thru to day 16 or somewhere in between. However I went for my day 21 blood test and received a call from my doctor saying the blood test did not show that ovulation had occurred and asked me to go and have another blood test on day 24 in case I ovulated later than expected.
I feel pregnant.I have cramping, slight nausea, and am urinating more often than normal. I was convinced that I had conceived but am now wondering if this is possible given the blood test results. Can they be wrong? The maybe baby test has always appeared to be correct, and helped me confirm I was ovulating on day 19 on the month that I fell pregnant last year. Today is day 23. I am very confused and was hoping you may be able to shed some light before I go for my next blood test. My doctor is fantastic and is very helpful, I just thought I would get the opinion of someone else. Thank you for your time,
Chelsea Hogan.
AnswerHello Chelsea from Australia,
I think your doctor is correct in thinking that maybe ovulation was later than expected and you should do the test as recommended. I don't think that you can go my your "feelings of being pregnant", since it would be way too early to have symptoms. Implantation doesn't occur for 7-10 days after ovulation has occurred and your bHCG levels would be too low to produce any symptoms at that point.
For now, I would recommend that you just "go with the flow", which in American means don't' jump to any hasty conclusions or don't worry about things you have no control over.
Good Luck,
