Pregnancy Test Confusion: Positive Home Tests & Negative Blood Test - Seeking Explanation

Question
age 36, 1 child, and 9/12/05 is first day of last period.

I am 15 days past ovulation(dpo), and on 13 dpo, I had a blood test done. I had before that taken an HPT with First morning urine and received a positive that I was pregnant. I used EPT certainty, a digital test, and a clear blue easy + or - test.  The blood test came back negative. Why would that happen with four positives received on the HPT?
I am on day 40 of my cycle, and they usually are 35 days long. However, I do have irregular cycles, but am not usually more than 2 or 3 days late. Could I still be pregnant, and the blood test just did not pick it up?  I ovulated  on cycle day 24, which is late in my cycle. Can you still get pregnant that late in the cycle?  My doctor said they will retest in a week if I have not received my period.
Should I be worried that something else is going wrong?
Thanks. Kathleen

Answer
There have been reports of positive urine pregnancy tests in the face of negative blood tests. I would agree to repeat the blood test (Beta HCG) twice 48 hours apart, in a week. If it is a viable pregnancy, there will be a doubling of the results in 48 hours. If you are not pregnant, both results will be less than 5. Don't worry.
