Red, Tender Skin on Arms & Legs: Possible Causes & Treatment

my underarms forearms and inner thighs have been red for the past three or four months and are usually very tender.  can you give me an idea of what it may be?

Answer
It sounds like a little fungal infection... tinea corporis.  Treated with a mild antifungal agent... I like using lotrisone lotion or mycolog II creme for this, twice daily for about 2 weeks.  Both meds are prescription.  You might get by taking Lamisil over the counter.
