Tonsil & Neck Swelling After Strep Throat: Recovery Timeline

my question is i had strep throat for the last few days and started antibiotic treatment three days ago for it and tonsilitis. how long does it take for the tonsils and the glands in the neck to go back to normal size? and how long will it take to feal better? thank you

Hi Tiffany,
The tonsils may never get smaller even though the infection has cleared. Sometimes the swelling and scar is such that they stay enlarged. The nodes in your neck should get smaller but they too can be felt for months to years after an infection. As for feeling better, that should be less than a week.
