QuestionQUESTION: I'm 25 and I would like to do some preventative work for anti-aging. What can I do to prevent wrinkles around my eyes, forehead, and laugh lines. They're not bad. I can barely see them but I don't want them to get worse, especially around the eyes. I heard that using vitamin E oil on wrinkles helps. Is this true? Any advice you can give to prevent the aging process would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

QUESTION: allexperts.com will not allow to go back in and revise a rating. I had to rate you because that's the only way to ask a follow up question. I wanted to say, n/a but that option wasn't available. I couldn't give you anything higher because you didn't answer the question yet. You're right, it's impossible to rate someone's knowledge when they haven't answered the question. Perhaps that's something allexperts.com needs to look in to. If you don't want to answer that's fine, but I apologize for offending you. I hope you accept my apology. If you do answer my question, I most certainly will give you a great rating. I read your expertise and experience paragraphs which is why I chose to write you in the first place. Have a wonderful day.

AnswerHello Oksana,
Thank you for your kind words, they touched me. Sorry about all this hassle. So let's get back to your questions.
I don't think vitamin E is the best panacea against wrinkles and aging. The skin biology is more complex than just needing vitamin E. However it's a good antioxidant, and antioxidants are an important part of your anti-aging beauty routine. The fact that you already see some wrinkles, although you are 25, is a sign that there's something slightly unbalanced in your skin. You are very wise to want to take care of it now. If you take medications, or your mother, grandmothers and great-grandmothers had fast aging skin, you will need to do more and more thoroughly for your skin to stay young and beautiful.
So here is what I recommend for you.
1. You need to exfoliate your skin once a week, as well as apply facial purifying and nourishing facial masks. Find an exfoliant that is gentle and fine like the cleansing cream from Dr Hauschka or something similar. You can find home-made masks recipes here:
http://www.naturepurity.com/holistic/home_spa_masks.html
2. as a moisturizer, use something with Wild Musk Rose oil (high in natural regenerating retin-A as well as essential fatty acids) or Raspberry seed oil (very high in natural vitamin E and other antioxidants) on the wrinkled parts of your face. Use Jojoba oil or passion fruit oil on the oily parts. Use no-alcoholic witch hazel floral water as a toner and try to stay away from make-up foundations. Use powders instead: you need to let your skin breathe well.
3. if you live in a sunny part of the country, or expose yourself to sunlight frequently, always moisturize your skin after exposure, with something nourishing and soothing to take the sub-inflammation down. Get a cream with calendula extract or many different sources of plant oils like Jojoba, avocado, wheat germ, hazelnut, apricot kernel, borage or primrose. If you spend of lot of time outdoors, then choose a good sunscreen (check that there's no parabens in it)
4. apply Chamomile or Cornflower compresses on your eyes for 10 min at night a few times a week.
5. watch your diet and stay away from sweets, too much carbs, sodas, processed foods, too much meat. Hike up your intake of greens, legumes, fruits and walnuts. Stay away from too much coffee and opt for good quality green tea or herbal teas. You can find more info about diet in this book: http://www.naturepurity.com/holistic/book_review_thrivediet.html
Also, make sure that your omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids intake is enough. Otherwise supplement with borage or primrose or black currant oil softgels.
6. it's also important that you do detox regularly. you can read more about it here:
http://www.naturepurity.com/holistic/springdetox.html
7. If you work with computers or monitors, or watch tv quite a bit, you may want to have your vision checked. Any strain on your eyes will translate in more strain in your whole face, therefore preparing the ground for wrinkles.
8. if you are a stressed person, your body is going to show the stress in different ways: fatigue, emotionality, poor digestion, stiffness... and wrinkles. Take great care of managing the stress in your life with whatever technique you like: exercise, yoga, tai-chi, meditation, breathing, walking, hiking...
9. You may also want to look into herbal extracts to support your general wellness and beauty. I like the herb Pharm herbal extracts. You can find them in good health food stores and ask for guidance there.
I hope this answers your question. If you start following my suggestions, I am sure your skin will improve, unless you have an underlying medical problem. Give it a few weeks at least, as natural products work WITH your skin and take some time to show results, which are real, instead of forced and fake. Once your skin start rebalancing, you may need to change the moisturizers. Just get back to me and I'll be happy to help you. You may also want to explore the books of Dr Perricone as he gives very good advices. i haven't tested his products, but they contain chemicals that I don't like so I prefer to stay with real good natural brands like Dr Hauschka or Jurlique or something in that range.
Have fun experimenting with this and more importantly, love your skin! Enjoy!
I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care

Hello again Oksana,
I am reviewing an amazing book that you may want to investigate. It's "clean" by Dr Alejandro Junger. The guy is very knowledgeable. His program is tough, but very efficient, and only 3 weeks long. Doing it a couple of times a year would help you look and feel even better and add up to everything else I've recommended.
All the best,
Enjoy the spring
