Persistent Hiccups: Finding the Right Specialist & Treatment in Phoenix/Tucson
QuestionMy son is 29 years old, he is experiencing hiccups that can last up to week or two at a time. This is has been going on for about three or five years. We notice that alochol and smoking makes it worse. I am trying to get him to the doctors. My question is what kind of doctor would go to who would have knowledge in treating these kind of hiccups? And do you have any recommendation in the Phoenix or Tucson Area?
AnswerAs you know this appears to stem from stimulation of the diaphragm muscle below the lungs so is made worse with alcohol and tobacco. An ENT doctor may be the best in your area of the country, but I do not know any currently practicing there. I would call each ENT office and ask if they treat hiccups. OK?
