Vertigo After Intensive Work: Causes, Symptoms & Relief
QuestionMy wife, 55, is on a critical assognment for work- she is a computer programmer. She has been working at a plant installing a new system - working 12 hour days for the last 2 1/2 weeks including the weekend. She is not happy with the project - she came home for the weekend and had to go back for this week. She is experiencing Vertigo only when she lays on her left side. It is not an issue when she lies on her back or right side. I am sure stress has a lot to do with this - she is also someone who can get depressed but is on no medications. She is going throught menopause. Any idea what is casuing the veritgo?
AnswerHi Dennis,
Vertigo, as you describe, is most likely due to either a virus in the inner ear or a small calcium stone in her semi-circular canal. A trial of Meclazine (over the counter) will help her symptoms. If this doesn't clear within a week or so, a visit to her doctor is in order.
