Understanding Botox for Hyperhidrosis & Underarm Sweat - Expert Advice

Question
No she is not any any medication.  What is Rx Drisol & underarm Botox (I'm assuming with the Botox you are referring to Botox shots like what some people use to get rid of wrinkles and such)?

Dr. Aukerman,

At the moment I'm trying to get my daughter in to see her pediatrician but I have to wait until next week to find out if they can squeeze her in.  In the meantime, I'm hoping you can help.  My daughter is 12 years old  & over the past year her perspiring has gotten worse.  We have tried almost every antiperspirant & deodorant on the market for teens, women, men, men's sports, etc. & we even purchased one recently that says to roll it on at night only, it was prescription strength & will help close the pores in the underarm area so there was not so much perspiring.  Nothing has worked.  She perspires just sitting watching television or walking from one room to another.  She even uses cold water in the shower or when she's washing up on her underarms to close the pores.  She is not overweight, she is 5'1" & approximately 110 lbs.  She is very active in soccor & dance but she just has this problem with wetness even when she's not doing anything.  Today was the last straw & she literally broke down in tears over this whole thing.  She's afraid to take her coat & jacket off at school (she's in the 7thh grade) because of all the wetness.  Like I said, we've used more over the counter antiperspirants & deodorants than you can imagine.  Any suggestions, advise, help?

Thank you so much!

Answer -
No treatments work other than the Rx Drisol and underarm Botox.
Is she on any medications?

Answer
Drisol is a permanent antiperspirant prescription item

Botox is similar for wrinkles but used underarm to permanently stop sweating.  see: www.nih.gov and search for sweating, botox

Prior to these her doctor need to check out her adrenal, thyroid and pituitary gland function tests if not already done.
