Persistent Tongue Irritation: Causes & Relief - Ask Doctor Aukerman

Question
Hi Doctor Aukerman,

I have a strange question.  For the past few months, my tongue has felt irritated - like it has been burned with hot coffee.  It will bother me for several days, and then I may have a few days when I don't notice it.  When it is bothering me, it also feels kind of "thick" and I can't speak as well - like I have trouble saying too many s's in a sentence.  I mentioned this to my doctor & he had never heard of such a thing.  I am currently undergoing all kinds of testing for various symptoms that appear to be autoimmune.  My next appt. is with a rheumatologist because recent tests showed I had a positive rheumatoid factor (14).  I have already had an MRI to rule out MS because of my nerve/joint/muscle symptoms.  Could this weird tongue thing be related to my other symptoms?  Have you ever heard of something like this?  Thank you for your advice!

Answer
Yes, it is common with neurological things or vitamin deficiencies. Ask your doctor if you can take high potency B complex twice a day, magnesium oxide 400-500mg twice a day and caltrate with D twice a day plus a multivitmin 1/2 twice a day PLUS omega 3 3000mg twice a day.
