CoQ10 and Vytorin: Muscle Soreness & Drug Interactions - Expert Advice

Question
I noticed your comments about taking Coenzyme Q10 if you're taking a chlestoral lowering drug.  I'm 60 years old and was taking 20mg of zocor but my cholestoral was still high, so my doctor doubled my dose and changed to vytorin 10-40mg which worked great; however, I now seem to have a lot of muscle soreness.  My doctor ran a check for drug interaction and said that the soreness was not from the vytorin.  Do you think that lack of Coenzyme Q10 would cause this soreness?

Answer
Bill,

Vytorin is a combination of ezetimibe (Zetia) and simvastatin (Zocor) that is used for treating high levels of cholesterol in the blood.  So this new drug has Zocor a statin drug in it.  Just found it on the internet.....

coQ10 is recommended to be taken in conjunction with statin drugs and/or by itself as an anti-oxidant and cardiac support supplement.  Visit www.vitasanus.com and go to coQ10 in product list for information on this important supplement.
