hi there
my daughter who is 6 burned her lip(2nd degree) ona  hot fork(it was under fire). The skin turned whitish and then swelled a bit.the ped said it looked like 1st degree but its 2nd degree b/c of the blisters.it wasnt really blisters,it looks more like scabs.it was not fluid filled. Now i guess its healing but it looks like dark red scabs. Will this heal fully on the lip?will this scar?what is the best way to take care of this?will the skinm be discoled?there are 3 scabs, one looks like its ready to fall off but the bottom part of her lip looks darker?

technically, a 2nd degree burn will not scar, the question is, is there a 3rd degree burn component.  Not much to do except keep the area moist with some ointment and wait for it to heal.

Hope this helps...

Answer
3rd degree burns don't hurt, the problem is there is 2nd degree burns around it that do hurt.  If there is one place in the center that isn't sensitive to touch, then it may be a third degree burn, but, like I said, the only thing to do at this point is to keep it moist with an ointment and wait it out.
