Dizziness After Alcohol Consumption: A Doctor's Explanation

Hi Dr. Manger,

I have a question regarding Alcohol. I am a 15 year old female. My friend and I got drunk for the first time about a week ago. I think I had a little too much, and I threw up about 6 times. After I came home, I tried to go to sleep, but everytime I closed my eyes, I felt as if everything was spinning around me, literally. My friend felt the same way, too. Why do you think I felt that way? Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

Called the "bed spins".  Alcohol upsets the portion of your brain that has to do with equilibrium and balance.  This is why people become uncoordinated, fall, can't drive, and they feel as if the room spins.

While I can appreciate the desire to "experiment", I wouldn't suggest you drink at your age.
