Understanding Your Knee MRI Results: What Do They Mean?

Question
Could you tell me what some of this means from
my MRI on knee.
intensity  within posterior horn medial menisuc,
lateral patella tilt without tear
medial patellar facet
prominent infrapatellar synovial plica
subarticular degenerative cystic changes with changes of bone marrow

Does all this need to be shown to an orthopedic
or can my PCP take care of it.
I can't knee on my knees without sharp pains going through my knee, they also feel weak when I go from a bending position to standing up.
They always ache and throb.

Thanks
Deb

Answer
yes, you need an orthopedist and this should be able to be helped with arthroscopy.  You basically have arthritis, and cartilage inflammmation.  If I were managing it, I would first see how physical therapy and motrin type meds work, then a try of a steroid injection.  If no better, then an ortho for a cleanup arthroscopic fix.

Hope this helps...
