Cervical MRI: What to Expect, Purpose & What it Shows

Question
What exactly is a cervical MRI?  What is it used for - only cervical cancer and conditions?  I have RA and have been having some pain in lower abdomen but I am not sure why a doctor has ordered this type of test.  General information would be very helpful.

Answer
cervical mri... the cervix is a part of the uterus, but usually a cervical MRI pertains to the cervical spine which is the neck portion of the spine...so I am not sure what he is ordering.... usually we do a cat scan of the uterus to look for abnormalities of the low abdomen and an MRI of the neck (cervical) to look for problems with the discs in the neck so I am not sure what your doctor is looking for.
