Burning Pain Below Knee Cap: Causes & Potential Solutions

Question
Thanks for your quick response Charles.

I am 32 yrs old and go to the gym 3 times a week (although nothing too strenous mainly weight training) and walk the dogs morning and night.

I almost never kneel and I suppose climb stairs as much (or as little) as most people.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Emma

Dear Charles,

For the last 3 or 4 days I have had a burning sensation just below my left knee cap.  It feels like there is a heat pad on it.  It does not happen all day but does occur for quite a long time on and off. I have not had any recent injury to my leg so was wondering if you could shed any light on this?

Thanking you in advance,

Emma
Answer -
Hi Emma,
How old are you? What kind of work do you do? Do you participate in sports or climb stairs regularly? Do you find yourself kneeling a lot? If you can answer these questions, I might be able to give you a more educated answer.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Emma,
Thanks. This may be something called "infra patellar tendinitis". I would just try heat (20 minutes every couple of hours in the evening) and Over-the-counter Advil as long as you have no reason not to be taking it. Decrease your work outs for a week and see if things clear up. If they do, then we have a cause. If not, see your healthcarte provider for an exam.
