QuestionCould you explain what this CT means. It is worded so only a doctor understands but I would like to know and better understand what the test is saying. This is what the reading says--
(four small homogeneous hypoechoic liver lesions. One is in the dome and other three are in the right lobe. The largest of these measures 1.3 cm and the larger two have hounsfield units
consistent with simple cysts.
Very hard to understand. Is it anything to worry
about and should I be checked out by another doctor.
I'm 53 yrs old.
Thanks.
Debbie
AnswerCat scans are pretty good at detecting some tissue differences. A lot of people have cysts in their liver, kidneys, spleen, etc. These type of cysts are not cancerous, don't turn to cancer and are harmless. Sometimes we repeat the study in 3-6 months to confirm there is no change, but I have not seen any ever cause a problem, esp. when they are that small.
Hope this helps...
