Leg Injury After Fall: Symptoms, Causes & What to Do

Question
28 yr. old female.  i fell about 1 week ago, on ice,  and injured my leg just below the knee cap, on both sides of the shin bone.  it bruised and swelled almost immediately. at first it had the initial pain, of course, but the day before yesterday i noticed a burning painful sensation in the area. there is even a part of it that is numb.  it is not red or hot to the touch.  it was extremely swollen but that is subsiding. today it seems some better but around the outside edge of the injury is still that burning tingling feeling and still a little numbness.  did i cause nerve damage?  will it ever be normal again?

Answer
no nerve damage, you damaged the bursa (part of the joint) below the knee that belongs to the knee cap.  Sub-patellar bursitis is the technical name.  Wrap it with ace wrap, too late for ice now, and take alleve 4 pills 3X per day or Alleve 2 pills twice a day and it should get better in 3 weeks or so
