Delayed Period & Potential Pregnancy: What Could Be the Cause?
QuestionI have missed my period for the 1st time in 8 years. I am 29. In the past I have been pregnant and taken home tests and they have been negative or barely showed positive when I was definately pregnant. I should have started my period Aug. 7,2006 but never. I feel pregnant and I have taken home testes. they showed negative. I went to the doctor and he said I have a UTI done some blood work and said I wasn't pregnant. I looked at my record of that night and in the hcg level area it says negative it doesn't give a #. Can I still be pregnant? Will the UTI stop my period or show negative results?
AnswerHi Nora,
The blood test that was done is virtually 100% reliable. A UTI or antibiotics would not cause a negative test. There are any number of reasons why you could have missed your period. I'd ask your doctor to explain these to you in more detail.
