Irregular Bleeding on Loesabonique: What Could It Mean?

Question
I have been on LoSeasonique (birth control) for almost ten weeks now due to
irregular periods. I have been experiencing sporadic bleeding - I know that's
supposed to happen, but what is concerning me is that now it goes along with
dark brown spotting, and it is pretty continuous. I've had to wear tampons just
for the brown "spotting." What does this mean ?
Also, I have had sex with my boyfriend. He uses a condom, I'm on birth
control, and he does not ejaculate in me. I've also been told by my OBGYN
that it will be difficult for me to ever become pregnant. I'm almost 19, and I'm
worried about being pregnant. Help ?

Answer
I don't see any reason to think that you're pregnant.  Since you had irregular periods before starting the LoSeasonique, you're more likely to spot or bleed the first cycle or so.  I would stop the pills for 5 days, let your period come (it wants to come), then restart a new pack.  I suspect most of the bleeding and spotting will stop after that.  If necessary, repeat that in a month.

Your irregular periods probably mean that you don't ovulate much.  When you want to become pregnant, you may need some help to ovulate, but that's not difficult.  You'll most likely be able to have your baby when you want to.
