QuestionMy 12 y/o daughter has been excessively ill in the last 8
months. Every time something is going around she gets it. In
June she was ill with a 104 temp for 1 week and lost 8 lbs in 5
days. She is often tired and has frequent headaches. Her doctor
ran some blood work and it showed she carried the CMV
anitbodies but she said the test didn't show she activly had the
virus. My daughter recently had a fainting episode and after 5
min. her pulse was 40. Her doctor ran more blood tests that
showed she had low neutrophils 41 range 50-70, high
eosinophils 6 range 0-4 all of the other values were in normal
range although some were on the edge. WBC 4.8 range
3.5-12.5, RBC 4.01 range 4.00-5.20, platelets 363 range
140-400. Her lympnodes in her neck are always a bit enlarged
and usually tender. She is now home from school sick again.
Could this be CMV (even though the Dr. didn't seem to think so).
Should I have her looked at by another Dr. or am I concered
unnessesarily? Thank you for any advice you have.
Answermonica;
Cytomegalovirus-is a common cause of diarrhea in people with a weak[immunosuppressed]immune system. a medication called ganciclovir[cytovene]may be effective in treating
cytomegalovirus-induced diarrhea.
when dehydration sets in,the blood work will be out of wack,indeed;
there has to be a reason your daughter gets sick all the time,what did the doctor say about that?
