Understanding Persistent Digestive Issues in Seniors: A Guide

Question
Hi My name is Liz, This info. is about my mother in-law. My mother in-law is 67 years old.For about a yeay and a half she has been having these problems. It started with hiccups that went on and on, then a few months later she would get what she called a blockage in her esophagus when she ate, she would take a drink of water and it would go down but not without pain. She also started to throw up a few months later and now throws up every day about two or three times a day. She is now complaining abot pain in her back on the right side about 4 inches below her neck, and she said it is also itchy in that same area. She said she is now getting heart burn after she eats. The vomit that she vomits is  white foamy looking and she vomits after burping very loud hard burps. She has gone from 158 lbs. to 128 lbs. She has had blood work done, 2 G.I.scopes, ultra sound, cat scan, meds for up set stomach, and all the tests come back negative. could you please help us with this ? She has been told by different people it could be any thing from parasites to cancer What do you think.

Answer
Regardless of the cause, it is serious if it is producing these symptoms and problems. While cancer is the most likely they should have seen that with the GI scopes. Have they done barium swallow xrays? Have you see real copies of all her tests and reports? If not request those and we can talk.
