QuestionI am 55, menapausal, no periods for 2 years or so, have not had sex for over a year. Every time I pee, it gets on my inner thighs, for a couple months now. Very annoying, not to mention gross. This can't be a normal 55 year old thing, can it? Also last Sunday, I had a burst of diariea not even time to hold it. I rush to the bathroom and there is no fieses at all. It was clear thin jelly like substance traced with blood. I would guess an ounce or more. Didn't smell like diereia at all. Please advise. Pat
AnswerHello Pat,
I would be happy to address your question, but let me gather a little information first.
I'm not quite sure what is happening here. Are you saying that you have the urge to urinate and that before you can get to the commode, you lose some urine on your legs?
I understand that there is a separate issue with your stool. Which sounds infectious. Anytime there are secretions, that are "jelly like" I think of inflammatory secretions. That is the body's response to intruders. In your case, that could be viral, bacterial or parasitic.
A good place to start would be some simple urine and stool studies. A urine dip, micro and culture if indicated can easily be done at your local clinic. The stool studies are relavent beacuse you might have a parasitic colitis (mucous & blood).
If this information points you in the right direction, good. If you want to answer the questions I asked above, good too.
Thank you for the question.
