Pinky Toe Fracture Recovery: Numbness, Swelling, and Deformity

Question
Hello :)

I broke my pinkie toe almost 6 months ago.  The break extended from the base of the bone to just below the only joint in the pinkie.

During healing, It has been re-hit (mostly due to inability to wear a supportive shoe)

Now, any attempt to wear a enclosed shoe results in numbness, swelling and discoloration.

The toe appears straight without when it's held up, when when a walking step is taken, it turns...that's is the turns with the nail bed facing directly to the right side.

If that makes sense.  It's as if when I walk the toe is quarter turned and I'm walking on the side of it.

Can I just tape this with care for a extended period of time or does this sound like a go to the foot doctor to correct.

I can't afford surgery. But I have to wear shoes.

Answer
Hi Amme,
At 6 months, there isn't much you cn do to change anything. Healing has taken place many months ago. The fact that you walk daily has probably not allowed the toe to heal properly. By the time a year has passed this should no longer be a problem. Soon enough you'll be able to wear a shoe that is comfortable.
