Facial Injury After Assault: Symptoms, Healing, and When to Seek Medical Attention
QuestionThe day before Thanksgiving (Nov 22, 2006) I was struck in the face (twice) by my ex in an unprovoked, un-called-for situation. Needless to say, I obtained a HORRIBLE black eye and sore & swollen face. The first blow was from his open hand, striking the edge of my left eye. I actually saw a burst of white light when he hit me. The 2nd blow was with his fist to my left cheek-bone. The black eye healed in about 2 weeks... It is now Dec 28th, and I still see some minor darkness around my left eye. I'm also noticing some dull pain in the same place where I was 1st hit, almost behind my eyeball. What does this mean? Should I be concerned about it? What should I do? Thanks for your time, and hopefully your quick response.
Answerthere is a very thin bone that makes up the bony eye socket and this can crack with a blow to the eye... Also, the retina can be damaged.... I would be examined by an eye doctor and possibly have a cat scan of the facial bones... and protect yourself from this abusive person.... these type of attacks tend to be repeated eventually...
