Ortho Tri-Cyclen Side Effects: Feeling Foggy & Low Energy

Question
I have been taking ortho tri-cy.lo for 5 days. ( Due to too many periods a month.)  I have been experiencing vomiting and nausea, I can deal with that; however, I have been experiencing a small fog like feeling ..almost like I cannot get my feelings out or I lack the enthusiasm I normally do from day to day...(some snapping and minimal crying)..I guess you can say..a blah feeling. I am able to function but feel weird and out of sort a bit from time to time.
I called the pharmacist and she said that the tri-cy lo is less powerful in side effects as the colors change within the pack.  I have white, blue and dark blue.  She said that the pills I am taking shouldn't do that, but I know I am hyper sensitive to some meds.
Is it true regarding the colors (by weeks) and their potentcy in hormones and how long should I continue to give the pills a chance to level out my hormones  Thank you for any information in helping me...Amanda

Answer
I suggest that you see your doctor right away. You shouldn't be THAT sick from the pill. Also, the pill is known to cause depression, which may account for your change in mood. Talk with your doctor and think about switching to another type of birth control. I have an IUD right now and really like it. They are usually used by older women, but I am 20 and have had no problems. The only side effect is a SUPER light period! :-)
