Understanding TB Conversion: What It Means & What to Do
QuestionI was looking at some paper work on TB testing and i saw a person didnt take the test due to being a TB convertor and i didnt know what that ment .
AnswerWhat that means is the the person was exposed to TB, and it got into his lung and the lung walled it off, but created antibodies against it, and there for the skin test is always positive. It you want to know if their TB is infection, the will need an XR. Also, if the are below 35 or 40 with no liver problems, they probably should take the preventive meds to get rid of the walled off TB. When you have TB this way, there is about a 1/2 percent chance per year of it going into active TB.
Hope this helps...
