Morning Sinus Discharge: Causes, Flonase & Deviated Septum
QuestionHello, In the mornings when i wake i normally expel some yellow materinal from my sinues, then it normally is ok. Just first thing in the morning. I had been on flonase for all of may and part of june for my seasonal allergies and that seemed to stop the morning sinus issue. I only used flonase for seasonal allergies, but can it be used long term for a problem like mine? The root cause i think is my deviated septum, which i have be relucatant to have fixed after speaking with people who have had it done.
AnswerHi Mike,
Morning nasal discharge can be from allergies, chronic sinus inflammation and smoking. Flonase can be used regularly but there are some side effects like thinning nasal mucus membranes, bloody noses and in extreme cases fungal infections in the sinuses.
