Bump in Front of Ear: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

Question
Hi,
My 15 year old son noticed a small bump in front of his ear, sort of at the top of his upper jawbone.  It's rather firm and can be slid around somewhat. It does not hurt and seems to be a little bigger now, a couple of hours later.  He has allergies and he just started taking Zyrtec and 12 hour psuedoephedrine hydrochloride for the last three or four days.  He also has used pheniramine and naphazoline hydrochloride eye drops.  He hasn't used the eyedrops in the last two days.  Would this be a blocked gland?  Thanks for any information you can give me.
Kathleen

Answer
it could be a cyst from acne... a deep infection... there are also lymph nodes there that can swell in response to a respiratory infection.  If it is painful, it is probably acne and he should be on some antibiotics, otherwise, give it a few weeks to resolve.......
