Question I dont think i have spelt this condition right so ill explain. I have swelling on the isnide of my thigh, its very red, lumpy and painful. I suffer from thrombosis and take warfrin 4 it,. However my doctor said that it wasnt a thrombos it was actually !cellulitas, a bacteria infection and that was all he said. Could you please tell me what this is and does it just go away, he also said it can be very serious im worried sick and do i have to rest for the swelling to go down? He has given me a combination drug, penicillan & antibiotics. thank you E,Curtis.

signs & symptoms;
-sudden tenderness,swelling and redness in an area of the skin. the areas of cellulitis is initially 5cm to 20cm in diameter and grows rapidly in the first 24 hours. a thin red line often extends from the middle of cellulitis toward the heart. cellulitis does nt develop into boil.
-fever,sometimes accompanied by chills and sweats.

-swollen lymph glands nearest the cellulitis.
causes;
-infection from staphylococcus or streptococcus bacteria;
probable outcome;
-usually curable in 7-10 days with treatment,unless the patient has chronic disease or is receiving immunosuppressive treatment. in that case,cellulitis may lead to blood poisoning and become life-threatening;
general measures;
-use-warm water soaks,to hasten healing and relieve pain and inflammation.
-elevation and restricted movement of the affected area can help reduce swelling.
medications;
-your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic to fight infection. finish the prescribed dose,even if symptoms disappear quickly.
