Sudden Voice Change: Causes, Symptoms & What to Do

Hello,

For about a year now, my voice has changed drastically. Some days I can barely even talk, it's very hoarse. I am on the phones a bit for my job (but only like 1-2hrs per day), if that...I do have a tendency to talk a lot but not sure that would cause my voice to completely change. I'm 29yrs old and I went from having a normal voice to a very raspy sounding and hoarse voice. I went to an Ear Nose and Throat and he did not find anything. He told me to try meds for Acid Reflux, but honestly, I do not get a lot of heartburn, etc...so I am thinking it is not that...any ideas or where I should look for answers before I lose my voice completely???

do the reflux med for 3 months.... you would be surprised how many people have it but don't have symptoms.  Light meals at night, go to sleep with a less than full stomach.  

Other possibilities are allergies, or a muscle disorder in the throat that may require a sub specialized ENT.  If no results from the reflux meds, then ask to be referred to a specialty center for evaluation.
