Flu Shots & Pneumococcal Vaccine: What You Need to Know
QuestionI am a healthy 31 year old - only thing I take medicine for is hypothyroidism (synthyroid once a day). My pharmacist told me that all healthy adults should take the Pneumococcal pneumonia (Pneumovax vaccine )and the seasonal flu shot and pass on the H1N1 that the Pneumococcal vax would give a layer of protection on the side effects of the H1N1.
What is your opinion
Answersometimes people develop a secondary bacterial pneumonia when they get influenza... this would provide some protection against that kind (pneumococcal) I don't give it to all healthy adults, usually older people and people with diseases that may affect their immune system, like diabetes......
