Endometriosis & Ovarian Cysts: Understanding Your Diagnosis

Question
I've known for years that I've had endo but it's never been formally addressed with my doctor. I've heard that other women have it and just thought my pain was normal for the people who suffer. However, I went to the ER yesterday with SEVERE pain in my lower right abdomen. I was also having endo pains as well. They confirmed the endo and also found cysts on both of my ovaries. Are they endometrial cysts or could they be normal ovarian cysts? I have a follow up with my doctor tomorrow and I'm so RELIEVED to FINALLY get this out in the open! Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Linds
I am so glad you are finally getting some help. Theres nothing more painful than endo, except labor! Not to mention the constant worry of what is wrong!
I am convinced...that anything goes when it comes to endo. Your cysts may be scar tissue formed from endo, it is hard to tell. But i feel that endo and any growths are all related. Endo is a condition that is based on abnormal production of estrogen, and ovaries are your estrogen producers...?
On the other hand, there are women who do not have endo and they still experience cysts, nodules, etc.
Once you have them removed and tested, your doctor will be able to tell you everything. And at that point, you can be appropriately treated and start feeling better.
I wish you luck and hope your pain subsides.
