Right Rib Pain: Causes, Diagnosis & Relief - Expert Advice

Question
I have been suffering from pressure, heaviness and pain under my right ribs since last two years.Ultra sound has revealed a tiny polyp on the fundic wall of my gall bladder and marginal hepatomegaly. The doctors opine that the cause of the pain is muscular pain . I have taken medicine for liver but to no avail.I was alcoholic but have been abstaining from alcohol since one year. Please advise.

Answer
I'm wondering if it's really muscular, when it may be liver related, as you are thinking it might be, too.  I've had liver pain before and it can be constantly on your mind, dull painful ache no matter how you move or what you do....I would ask my doctor how soon liver pain would go away post quitting alcohol. An internal medicine doctor would be best to evaluate this.  I would ask about any remedies to relieve the liver (I'm thinking of milk thistle but CHECK with your doc first) and ALSO find out if you have hepatitis.
