Postpartum Back Pain & Belching: Possible Causes & Concerns

Question
Hi. I just recently had my first child,(10/31/06). After the birth, I've had a constant dull pain in my back, around the second to last rib. I belch constantly, whether i eat or not, and when i lay down on my back i can hear my stomach make squirting noises. At the start of my pregnancy my liver functions were normal, but as of 12/26, the were elevated. the problem has just gotten much worse, and now when i take a deep breath i have a sharp, tight pain in the middle of my back, under my rib cage.
I also had a really bad, high speed car accident on Jan 14, and was diagnonsed with multiple chest wall contusions, from the seat belt.
My question is does that sound like a gall bladder problem? Or could it be likely the result of trauma for the accident.
I've also noticed that i seem to smell really bad when i sweat. I mean, right out of the shower, clean sweat that smells old. I seem to run low grade fevers (99.5-100.5) often. I was in excellent shape (i'm a ski instructor)before the pregnancy, now I feel like i'm 80. I also had an impact trauma to my right side in 2002, when i was hit by a fast skier in the front right side. I was knocked out for 2-3 min., and i bruised my ribs and had some torn cartilage in my sternum area. Thats also when i first  smelled funny,  for a month or so after that accident. Could this pain be associated with an old injury?
I was test for hepatitis with my pregnancy, Negative.

I hope that wasn't too much info! i don't have insurance at the moment, so I want to get multiple opinions so i know what kind of dr. to see, and hopefully spent the least amount of money figuring this out.

thank you for your time!
lisa

Answer
The pain easily could be gall bladder... it should typically get worse with a big high fat meal.  I would try zantac twice a day or prilosec once a day for a few weeks to make sure it isn't stomach.  I don't know if you are taking any advil type meds, but that can give you stomach pain also.  Those high speed injuries can cause musculosk pain that can linger for a few months.... the weird part is the "I feel like I am 80."  I would like to see you get thyroid tests and a complete blood count... often you can bargain with a doctor's office when you pay cash... labs and visit costs are inflated because insurance discounts it, so I often will discount cash pts.  Good luck with it...
